This is an oak media cabinet I made for my parents. They got a bunch of new stereo equipment and needed something to house it all in. I did a dark stain on the top (white oak with minwax ebony stain) and then just a semi-gloss white on the cabinet and doors. The cabinet is red oak ply to save money, and the rails/stiles came out of the same white that I used for the top. With them having moved out of town and into the country I wanted a nice rustic look.

Next up for them will be repainting the adjacent fireplace white and adding a beam style oak mantle stained to match the top.

And someone will have to clean up that mess of wires that are coming out of the wall. I tried to get my mom to go for an L-shaped cabinet to hide that but she didn’t want that. In reality this means I will likely get tired of the mess and go over there at some point and put in a remodelers box to tidy it up some.

Hope you like it.
