My daughter wanted a coffee table for her new house for Xmas. She sends me a picture of one she likes and then I design and build one the size she wants—with a 36×44” top. Got it done just in time with help from my wife who does the finishing. She used a wood filler to help give a more uniform stain but we’re not exactly pleased with the end result.
The table has 2 drawers on one side. No drawer handles because my daughter needs to find something she likes. The blind dovetail drawers were a pain but every project has to offer some degree of challenge. The carving detail at the tops of the legs and done with the router. I was going to carve something within the rectangular frame but decided oak not carving friendly. So rather than make a mess I left well enough alone.
