Simple, Poplar box, Mahogany Stain

The first box I actually made and finished. I gave it to my 3 year old daughter, hence the plastic jewelry inside.
All poplar, stained and polyurethane. I mortised in the hinges by hand.

Nice looking stain. What kinda joints did you use on the sides? Is it just a rabbit??

This is an excellent box. Poplar can be a challenge to stain but it looks like you did a nice job on the box. One of the nicest things that we, as woodworkers, can do is share our skills by making gifts for family and friends. I am sure you daughter will always treasure the box.
