Hi, First let me be honest. I had glued up an exotic blank and a bad blade ruined it. Not to be out done I did this one out of red oak. Drew up my own pattern and this is what happened. The drawers have red flocking and purpleheart pulls. Applied three coats of poly. Have a great day and thanks for looking.

Nice looking box! I see you cut it out at 90 degrees from the way I did mine. I cut through all layers when I cut out the pattern, and you cut across them. Love the purpleheart handles, and the finish.

Two things… l like the different glue up that you used…and secondly might I suggest a small piece of felt or a sliver of timber underneath each drawer to equalize the gap around each draw.. other than that not bad for a first or second attempt.. keep at it.. smooth cuts come with confidence and practice. Please take this in the spirit in which it was written…

Great looking box. I have been wanting to try one of these since I picked up my bandsaw last year. I have a nice red oak log in the corner, now I have an idea for it.

A very helpful hint Larry. I had not thought of that. Thanks.

My first thought was I never seen red oak that looked like that. Then realized, as Tim mentioned, you cut the pattern 90 degrees from the way I do it. That gives the box an interesting look to the wood grain.
