Our Grandson came to me one day and asked if he could have a treasure box, so this is the result, all the wood
( cherry) in this box came from a stair company up the road, it was destined for the chipper, I get quite a bit of wood scraps from them, I made a stand for the box, all the corners were hand dovetailed, I know there are machines out there that you can use to make them but you know I like to do them by hand much more satisfying for me. Cherry is such a beautiful coloured wood and over the years it will really get a much deeper red. It is 30 long by 16 high by 14 deep

Some of you were asking some more questions about this project, I have figured out how to change the photo size so that I can download them, so I have added a photo of my grandsons initials on the front and the sliding tray which fits in the top. I did not mortise and tenon the base because my Grandson wanted to see how the pocket hole fixture worked. Enjoy

Nice work. Yes, I prefer hand cut over machine cut. Just enjoy sitting there quietly and chopping away :-).

It looks like you carved some letters in the front vertical piece. Wish you would add some pics of the details and the inside. Show off your work. s

I really like this chest. Hand cut dove tails are sweet. What made you decide to go with pocket holes on the stand, instead of dove tails as well?

Wow, and made from scrap wood, Wow. That box is a treasure in itself and will surely be treasured by generations to come. Thanks for sharing and Happy New Year!
