Had some time between projects, a large round blank, and a friend that collects Snowmen. Put all that together and the results are a Turned Snowman Box approximately 9” tall and 4” wide. I started out turning the three boxes and the Hat out of the blank. Then I used 3/8” plugs for the buttons, mouth and eyes; nose is a sharpened 1/4” dowel; pipe is a 3/8” dowel, painted to resemble a corn cob, with a 1/8” dowel stem; broom is thin straw I glued in place and wrapped with black thread; and the arms are walnut. Both arms are mounted on small wood axles, with the head sanded flat, to enable them to swing. This was necessary for the middle box to sit on its own. Turned out to be an enjoyable couple days.
