About 7 years ago my wife wanted a lighthouse for the back yard so I said…I can build one of those. Of course I had no idea how I was going to build a lighthouse. That was my first step into the woodworking world. A step I have never regretted.

I searched the internet for some plans, bought a table saw and this is what I created. It fell apart after two winters. Looking back the joints were terrible, I didn’t use treated plywood, and the nails I used rusted. I have learned alot since then and will be building a better one this summer.

As soon as I find pictures of my other projects I post them as well.

Great project Jack. My wife wants one of these also. Some day I will build her a nice one. Until we move closer to the ocean it is still low on her priority list. This is a great site and full of tips and tricks to make the next one last a lifetime.

This looks really nice. My wife’s from the eastern shore of WI so you just gave me a great birthday gift idea. Much obliged.

The mistakes don’t show on this one. It’s nice to have at least pictures of our early projects so we have something to measure our progress against. We will look forward to seeing the next one when it’s finished.
