Travel humidor

Project by jaymac posted 784 days ago 561 views 2 times favorited 19 comments Add to Favorites Watch

Just finished a small travel humidor, holds 3 cigars and has a hygrometer and humidifier. I’m definitely not a Yankees fan but it was fun to make. Walnut and birdseye maple were the woods used, spanish cedar on the inside. Dimensions are 8 1/4×4 3/4×1 5/8. Thanks for looking.

btw, that is a fine box! i especially like the dowels and small slots that inset into the box. do those hide rare earth magnets for keeping the lid closed or are they purely esthetic?

This one has no home yet, just thought it would be a neat idea. There are 4 small magnets under the dowels.

As a woodworker, I applaud the craftsmanship. As a Yankees fan, all I can say is, it ain’t over until it’s over, and I want a box just like it. Great looking humidor.

Jaymac, this is a terrific small box and I just love small wooden boxes. I particularly like the Spanish Cedar lining. I’ve yet to make a box with a lining, but this one motivates me to do so.

Thanks!

Great looking box – I bet it would fetch a heft price on ebay – with all the Yankee fans out there. I knew that Don would like it – he just loves small wooden boxes and has a bunch of Avitars to post :-)).

Soooo…Why didn’t you make one with the Florida Marlins on the lid? Hmmm?

Was this modeled using the portable humidor plans from Woodcraft Magazine?

Great job on the veneer design on top.

Yes, it is loosely based the on the Woodcraft pocket humidor article, particulary the cradles that hold the cigars. Thanks everyone for the kind words.

It’s a great box! What is this, “Yankee,” thing?

I love this humidor. That’s one project I’m really interested in doing but my girlfriend bought me a gorgeous one already and I can only smoke the stogies so fast… Don’t really need a second one.
