(see my blog for the progression )

So, in 2014 I started the works for another box with no real idea of what I was after. I used Martin’s (BritBoxMaker) technique

(see it here)

as I like to do.

It’s a fantastic technique as Martin demonstrates in his work.

Combining Padauk with Cherry, I built the base board work for the mitre cuts:
A longgggg time ago (~15 years ago) I purchased a music box mechanism to make a music box for my wife. It plays “It’s a small world” as we’ve been to Disney World a bazillion times and her favorite is the Small World” ride. Obviously, I never made the music box, just didn’t have the right feel for what to do with it.

So, now the kids are grown and married, we’ve decided to take a trip to Disney World next spring, just the two of us. How do you go to Disney World and save 50%? Don’t take the kids! It struck me that it would be a great Christmas present to use the music mechanism in this box that’s been sitting a while.

Nice momento and detailed blog.
Did I miss what song the music box played?

Chris, some projects take a while, and 15 years qualifies as a while; however, it appears it was worth the wait. I like the concept and the Mickey head. I hope you both enjoy the trip to Disney World. We too enjoyed taking our kids, but we also enjoyed a trip we made as adults. Have fun. I like the design concept and your choice of woods. A special thumbs up for adding wooden hinges. Keep boxing and keep posting.
