Here’s my second project ever completed!

This was made for my dad. It was originally supposed to be done last september for his birthday. I finally put my foot down on a deadline to give it to him today for Christmas (as suggested by someone here in response to a blog post of mine).

This is maple, half-lap joint, light pass of cherry stain to make the grain stand out a bit more, little walnut handle on the top with a shellac finish.

Tah-dahhh!! :)

nice job I really like that corner joint. It’s something you don’t see often. I’m sure your dad will love it.

NICE JOB! I really like the joint work and your choice of woods and stain! I bet your dad loved his prize! :)

That reminds me of the pen that I gave to my dad. It was a simple ash pen in a matte black slimline kit. He always had it with him when I’d visit him. Such a compliment. :) Hopefully your papa has it full of his favorite treasures! :)
