Here is the answer to a difficult problem—What do you get for the person who has everything? The answer is a giant bull frog. My mother, aged 85, has just about anything you can think of. When I saw the plans for this bull frog in Scroll Saw Woodworking and Crafts, as created by John Hutchinson, I knew I had the answer. I made the frog from red oak and walnut. I hope he will be used as a candy dish.

I am a fan of a TV series called, “Peroit”. It is based on the novels of Agatha Christy about a Belgian detective named Hercule Peroit. One line in the series went something like this, a character made a desparaging remark about Mr. Peroit calling him the detective from France. With great indignation, Peroit responded, “The frog, he is from Belgium”. And so Hercule P. Palmer was born. My mother’s last name is Palmer and this frog will from now be a part of her family.

Great design. I’m a Belgian citizen and also a great fan from the famous Belgian detective (correct name) Hercule POIROT – David Suchet

Really like this the way you’ve finished it, has some real character to it. Do you know if the pattern is available on line somewhere? Seems like that issue is no longer available.

Have your say...
