Something a little different…I had a few special items lying around the garage…a fantastic set of Texas Whitetail Deer antlers…a box of Amber, and a small slab of gorgeous Curly Redwood…well, and some 23K gold as well…
Here’s how the combination came out!
The antlers are gilded in 23 k. The Redwood slab I carved to shape and inlaid with Amber slabs. I think it shows off the wood and the antlers pretty well…

Beautiful ! this is a new spin on mounted antlers. Joni are there bugs in the amber?
For those who don’t know what amber is here’s a link explaining what it is.

Thanks! I did find some bugs when I was cutting the amber mostly termites and what looks like mosquitos…I need to learn more about identifying the bugs before I cut into it, as I have cut some in half… I try to preserve the ones I can…It’s always interesting to see what’s “in there”.

Different, but I like it. Don’t know if I could bring myself to paint my smaller racks or not. Thanks for posting.
God Bless

I don’t think I could paint one either, but when you lay on pure gold, it’s a whole different story!
Actually the rack was left out on a fence in Texas, and had quickly bleached white…this was one heck of a way to still showcase a beautiful non-typ rack, that had been compromised by the Texas sun.
