Baby Vivian has finally arrived! I got the crib finished just in the nick of time. My daughter chose Black Walnut with Maple accents for this one. The finish is 4+ coats of outdoor water-based Polyurethane. My hardware kit was a perfect fit, too. I got wiser this time and ordered my kit from the folks at August Home. They’re the ones that market the plans so I didn’t have to “adapt” anything. Thanks for looking, hope you enjoy it. David

David. OUTSTANDING. Only one problem. Vivian is going to be SPOILED. This is probably the most beautiful crib I’ve ever seen. God Bless her.

The only thing more beautiful than the crib will be the occupant.

In agreement with my fellow posters, this is a beautiful piece. I see from your previous projects that is is at least the second crib you have built. Having never built a crib, I understand that there are some safety issues which must be taken into consideration.

Can you shed some light on some of these concerns. Is there any guidelines available as to best practices, things to look out for, etc.

Real nice project and a great idea to order the hardware from the designer. You probably did save a lot of headaches by doing just that. What surprises me though is that you’re so proud to show us your wonderful crib and not the even more wonderful baby Vivian?

Beautiful job on the baby cribs! I live about two hours from Des Moines, IA, which is where August Home is located. I’ve been to the Woodsmith store in Des Moines, also owned by August Home. I’ll have to see about making a trip up there to pick up some of the baby crib hardware. My oldest son is getting married next month. I’m currently making him and his fiance a queen sized mission style bed. They have stated that as soon as they are married they plan on trying to have children. Perhaps I’ll be making a beautiful piece like this sometime soon.

That is a great looking crib. The colors and accents are eye catching. But honestly David, I can’t believe Vivian wasn’t in it when you took the pictures! Welcome her to the world for us please :)
