This is the last of the Christmas gifts. I just had to assemble it and finish it.
It is a natural edge Box Elder cross backed up to a piece of Cholla cactus skeleton and mounted on a base of Mesquite. The cross is doweled into the base and the cactus has a solid mesquite disc on the inside at the bottom for a full glue surface to the base.
I was going to use full natural edge on the mesquite but the sap wood was full of bug holes and it was too big ( out of proportion to the cactus ), so I turned it all off and saved just a small amount for the front.
It is 13” high and the base is 5 1/2” diameter and finished with satin lacquer.
Merry Christmas….................Cheers, Jim
