I built this chicken tractor almost all out of 2×4s that I ripped in half. The base is treated 2×6 and the handles are old wheelbarrow handles that I had lyign around. The roof is corrugated fiberglass that I salvaged from an old shed and the door is made from some left over cedar. Unfortunately, something got inside and killed our birds, during the day of all times. We may try again with the chickens next year.

Very nice! You saved yourself a boatload of money by using the left-over cedar. Cedar prices are high right now due to a low harvest last year. A tractor is on my “to do” list. How many birds can you fit in this?

I like that slanted roof -simple and effective. Bummer that your birds didn’t get to enjoy it for long. Don’t feel bad though, same kinda thing happened to me once. I left the main door open to go fetch another bucket of feed and came back to a baby skunk that brought doom and gloom to my flock.

That looks nice. How many birds will it hold? An I had the same problem with preditors this year. I started with 21 chickens an coons, possums an stray dogs killled all but two.

That is really cool. I just saw one on the Alaska show!! You could build a nice movable pen for goats for controlled mowing!!

Merry Christmas to you and your family!!

Cheers, Jim

According to the experts, you need 2 sf per bird and this is 2’ x 8’. So 8 birds. But the three we had were producing an egg every 20 hours or so. We had three eggs every morning.
