This is a cherry wood box I built for my coworker. Her Husky dog passed away and I wanted to build her something where she could store some keepsakes from her dog. I am not good at drawing, but I have always liked Native American art. She loved it. The figure is drawn on by a Sharpie Pen and coated with tung oil. There was minor bleeding from the sharpie ink and tung oil. I need to find a better way of painting on my designs.
The cherry I came across during my travels in Pennsylvania. A sawyer sold me a whole pile of cracked and warped boards for twenty bucks. There was a lot of usable materials in that defective pile for boxes and small chests.

Great box! Love the unique dog. They have paint pens in the craft store. They even come in fine point. Maybe they or a woodburner would solve the bleeding problem.
