This is a small simple oak bowl I turned one afternoon. The wood came from the firewood pile so I guess it’s recycled wood.

I picked the piece because it was part limb and part trunk so the grain looked very nice.

There is no finish or stain on the bowl. I just sanded, polished and then finished off with wax.

Very nice bowl and really nice grain pattern. I typically don’t turn oak but this looks to have spalting. How long ago was the wood cut?

I’m not sure when the wood was cut. I had it delivered this year for firewood and I didn’t ask when I got the wood. This piece in particular did look on the older side though.

Have your say...
