Timber: Northern Silver Ash, Tasmanian Blackwood
Finish: Feast Watson Satinproof
Glue: Titebond II
Design: Original

After success with the curved legs on by bedside table I attempted another curved project using a template and router. This time using thin strips of blackwood between each section. I used dowel and glue to secure it all together. The breadboard ends are attached by tenon and glue. The legs were an experiment on the bandsaw. This piece went to another friend as a wedding present. Inspiration came from looking at the boats in the harbour nearby.

Very nice. I really like the design. It is both unique and creative with a nice simplicity to it.

You folks in Australia get to work with some wood that I am unfamiliarly with. I often use African blackwood for some accent pieces (it’s quite expensive). I wonder how tasmanian blackwood differs from African blackwood. We have lots of Ash but I am not familiar with Northern Silver Ash. This wood looks to be the color of the ash that I am familiar with.

Daniel, I really like the curves and the thin strips of blackwood between each section. Very nice detail.
