Quick and Easy Wood Toy Tow Truck

I cut the tow truck body for a piece of pine 2×4 and the hook from birch plywood. With the curve in the hook I didn’t trust a solid piece of wood to hold up.

All of the cutting was done with a #5 skip tooth blade on a scroll saw. You could cut it on a band saw but I would have to do a lot more sanding. You can’t cut the window with a band saw and the window shape is one of the things that gives it its character.

I like the look of the axle pegs on a toy truck but you need to be very precise drilling the holes or they may not all touch the floor.

You’re certainly mastering the scrollsaw and the vehicles…top job on the towtruck.

GREAT BUILD, I HAVE MADE HUNDERDS OF THESE TYPE TRUCKS AND SPREAD THEM ACROSS THE WORlD. THEY WILL LAST FOR GENERATIONS.

I think these are great!!! Simple is better. I would love to be able to make some of these can you tell me where you get the patterns?

Very nice build. I love the look of the double axles, too. I would be interested in knowing where you found the patterns, too. Or, did you just sketch it by hand?
