Project Information
Timber: Jarrah, River Red Gum (frame)
Finish: Ubeaut 1lb shellac, Feastwatson Satinproof, Ubeaut Natural Wax
Glue: Titebond II
Design: Modified from Australian Wood Review
I made this Blanket Box for a friend who was getting married. The design is from a article in Australian wood review. The case is joined with dowel using a Stanley no 46 dowel jig. One of the pieces had a large amount of checking. You can see in the picture I'm carefully injecting epoxy mixed with black shoe polish to make a feature of the already black oxidised checking. It now lives in their living room full of board games.
