I’m brand new to this site and most everything I make is for other people so its not around to take pictures. So this is a project I completed about 5 years ago. It’s actually the project I’m most proud of. It’s the first furniture project I took on and was only the second project using something other than 2X4’s and plywood. I built it while my wife was pregnant with our first child. It’s made out of alder and stained rosewood. I used mortise/tenon and lap joints on the base, and dowels for the rungs. There are only two things I don’t like about it. First, I rushed on the finish so it doesn’t look as good as it could of. Second, I just used a 1” dowel to hang the cradle on the base. It’s plenty strong, but when the cradle rocks, it’s wood on wood so it squeaks and grinds a little.

yeah that is nice looking…and I like the finish… not too glossy….not a huge fan of gloss on larger pieces…takes away from the warmth of the wood. Again great job…keep em coming

Great looking cradle. The last cradle I built had a very bad squeak in one end. I put some spray silicone on the dowel and it quieten it down some. Put a drop of oil on the dowel and it took care of the squeak.
