This is a lighthouse pepper mill I made out of birch. I used the ceramic shaftless mechanism, that Rockler and Woodcraft sell. My lathe does not do boring ( it’s a 23 year old vintage of the $99 one at Harbor Freight.. POS). So what I did was drill out a 1 1/2” counter-bore and made a sleeve and put 3 notches in it to catch the tangs of the mechanism. It works real well and smooth.

Very nice lighthouse mll. I made one of these and it was a lot of fun. Mine was a bit shorter as my lathe did not bore either. just drilled it out. Great job on the detail lines for the brick look.

Keep it up.

Great job. I’ve wondered about the ceramic grinders. Glad that they work great.
