Australian Red Morrel burl. Bought the wood for a reason to get an Arbourtech Mini Grinder (or vice versus). It’s a really agressive tool that eats up wood! Dyed outside with purple wood dye. Then finished outside with 5 coats laquer. Inside with 7 coats of 100% pure Tung Oil. Took forever to dry but I like the results

Awesome bowl. You deserve the mini grinder.

The purple dye was a great choice.
Well done.

Thanks for the nice comments. I’ve bought another burl (austrailian red mallee) which I will be carving next. It took a bit of practice to get the touch with that mini-grinder as it certainly will get away from you if you are not careful. Shout out to West-Penn Hardwoods for the great selection of wood. They happened to have moved their warehouse within a few miles of my home a while ago. Talk about a ‘kid in a candy shop” !! The place is huge with row upon row of every species you can think. You could blow the budget quick if not careful.
