Hi All,
Like most woodworkers, I drawn to traditional projects like this curly maple wall clock that now hangs in my kitchen. It’s a simple design but I got real lucky when I found the material completely by accident when shopping for some wormy maple.
All the best

Wow! I’m not usually a fan of that much figured wood, however, you have made me rethink my position.

I like maple and the clock looks great but it is to much maple for my eye. I was hesitating giving slightly negative comment but thought hard on it before posting. I am not by any stretch an authority on wood or art, again in my humble (very humble) opinion maybe a little contrasting wood might have helped accent the wonderful lines and great looking maple.

There’s one thing about curly maple; it just gets better lookling as time goes on. 200 years from now this clock will just look better and we hope, still keep excellent time.

Great looking clock. Thomas, I agree with you – the maple will probably look even better in 200 years. I will be more than happy to post pictures when the time comes :-))

Hi snowdog,
Honesty will get you a long way with me and I like your honesty.
I’m not offended in any way, shape or form and happy to see that you said what was on your mind.
I thank each and everyone one of you for your comments and if we as woodworkers can’t tell one another what we think of a piece…................................................ then I think I’ll take up knitting.

one of my favorite woods to use….I would love to see this in person and different lighting conditions that bring out even more of that beautiful grain…Great job : )

Nice job, Gord! Curly maple rocks… I like anything with that wavy, curly, waterfall look. Very good job, as usual. Great post!
