I got lucky at the mill and found a pile of 4/4 mulberry in pretty rough shape and at a good price, which is my favorite kind of deal. After a lot of epoxy work, and teaching myself some metalworking basics, ended up with a set of shelves.

Finish is french polish. Design isn’t my own – it was based on a Restoration Hardware piece with some small interpretations. Total material cost was about $700. Start to finish was about 4 months.

The wood shows a lot of character, very rich and deep. The metal is totally opposite, but it gives a great balance. The metal adds to the shelves without taking over the look. Beautiful piece!
