I made a “production run” of twelve toaster tongs for use as gifts putting some maple and walnut scraps I had to good use. Ripped thin strips from some random maple boards for the tong arms that are each12 inches long and found pieces of walnut to cut the fulcrum blocks. I had to make some properly angled glue cauls to help with clamping during glue up. Cut plugs with a plug cutter to use as the walnut accents set in holes made with Forstner bit. Trimmed the plugs with a a chisel and used a belt sander for final surface prep. Made up a 50/50 mineral oil and beeswax blend for the food grade surface finish.

Nice looking tongs Mike, I think I’ll make a set and try them out.

Looks great, good—use instead of lose project. Will be appreciated and also used

I do like using instead of burning the scrap bin. I might just have to borrow that idea.

Great job with the tongs. I think I may give them a try, too.
