The little, plastic waste basket in our bathroom broke, so I took the opportunity to make one out of wood that would match the other wooden accouterments that I made over the summer. I used some wood, possibly poplar which was previously a pair of end tables that we no longer needed.

The design is simple, two straight sides and two tapered sides. A rabbet to accept a bottom panel. I chamfered the corners to de-clunkify it a bit and also to match the style of the towel bars, etc. I added two drawer pulls, one on either side to help keep the plastic bags, (re-used from shopping,) from being pulled inside.

I painted it with white ‘ceiling paint’ and put a spray coat of white gloss paint over that

Nice work, very creative trash can. Nice touch with adding the drawer pulls to hold the trash bags.

Thanks. I have all those ‘life hack’ videos to thank for the drawer pull idea.

The drawer pulls are a great idea. And it’s a nice looking wastebasket.

Dave, this is a real nice practical project and it makes a very attractive waste basket.

Very nice beveled/tapered shape. Ofcourse, white colour is perfect for batroom. Prety logical reason to put handles.

Great replacement for the plastic, Dave! I like the chamfered conners.

I think chamfered corners/edges are part of my style.

Thanks everyone for putting my wastepaper basket in the Daily Top 3! I think you’ll like my next project as well… after I finish it.
