That really is a neat idea. In my case, an insert set into a granite countertop may be challenging.

There’s nothing better than pleasing the wifey. I Agree with ZTO. I would love to see the underneath. The kitchen is one of my favorite areas besides my studio and my knives are very important to me! I suggest you elevate the block by about half an inch off the countertop to prevent any contaminants falling into the knife grooves. Nice left most chef’s knife. Thanks for sharing Victor.
