A few more small things that I have made through the week on the new lathe. Had a few projects break which was exciting (not). The first one shown is a bird house ornament with a laminated pink cap, textured with a Wagner tool, with a walnut bottom and a Padauk perch. The second one is Red, White and Blue bird house ornament laminate with a walnut cap textured. Third one is a Walnut cap, Laminated Cayenne body with a Padauk finial at the bottom. Wire burned the black lines in it. Last one is a black and brown laminate egg.

The ornaments are hollow in the top caps and bodys. This keeps the weight down so they can hang on a tree if desired. I drill out the cap and body on the lathe to make a quick hollowing. Made a scrap cap and body holder so that my lathe’s chuck can hold it. I do the finish work up on that jig after the main work of shaping is done. All pieces are from scrap woods, finished in two to three coats of conversion varnish sprayed on. I like how hard the finish gets with this finish. It is runing around 20-25 sheen level. Thanks for looking.
