Hammock stand

Some time ago, during the spring, I noticed a youtube video of someone building a Hammock stand: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypWWzsfM0Vw
I had not seen this design before and I really liked it.
So, I bought some 2×8” pine with straight grain and little knots and cut them into slats. I cannot remember exact thickness, but it was probably somewhere between 10-13mm (3/8-1/2). Then made a similar form as seen in the video (I added a few side-supports for better results on glue-up) and glued the slats with PU glue to create curved posts.
After all, it was a relatively easy and cheap project.

Very nice.

What did you finish it with? I’m always interested in how people protect outdoor projects.

God bless.

Thanks.
For finishing I used 2-3 coats of a product that we call “boat laquer”.
It’s label actually says “Tikkurila Unica Super 60” and “Urethane Alkyd Lacquer, semi-gloss”.
The first year outside does not show any remarkable wear on the finish… we’ll see how it hold up.
For the winter, I disassembled it and stored in shed.

Outstanding built and joinery. I could see myself chilling in it.
