This was a tough one. The hardest project I have tackled so far. NO plans, its a copy of my grandma’s rocking chair. Many, many days of turing on this and I aint no turner. All made of ash and the misses did the seat and back. Sat real nice and ended up giving it to my step mom. Guess I’ll have to make another for us.

A great job. You need to provide a work bench for your wife so she can get off the floor to do the weaving.

Really great picture of your wife doing the weaving – I’ve never seen it done before. Is it difficult to do a woven seat/back, or mostly just time consuming, or both?

Tilt you might not have been a turner when you started – but I’d say you are an accomplished turner now. Really like the chair and your wife is pretty talented as well. That weaving is a whole ‘nother skill.

Thanks guys, This was our first chair project. The misses did a great job on the weaving of the chair and really learned a lot. We have plans on doing more. I have found with this project to keep your tools sharp, take your time and have plenty of wood handy. Cindy got a book on weaving and this was her first time for this also. Thanks again….
