I created an advent calendar box for my wife for Christmas. This project was made with all white pine. All the drawers and the outer frame are hand dovetailed. Each drawer has six dovetails in the front for decorative purposes. The box is 20” high by 16” wide by 3-1/2” deep.

I placed a gift inside each of the 25 drawers, and she will open one drawer each day, finally opening the last one on December 25. Some of the drawers contain gift cards or lottery tickets, or a handwritten clue to where she will find the actual gift for that day. I don’t know who will have more fun—her opening a new drawer each day, or me watching the anticipation on her face. We will keep the advent box hanging on a wall in our family room year-round. This will be the gift that keeps on giving. I can use it year after year and just refill it with new gifts. And who wouldn’t want to receive 25 gifts for Christmas???

Looks very cool and lot of work with it. I bet some sweet surprices are hidden there. Cute fingerjoints.

Neat idea!

But I wonder … how many wives would (or COULD) resist opening all the drawers one day when you’re not around? LOL

Wow, I can’t believe you are really putting a 2 carat diamond ring in the December 25th box.
Rest assured, your secret is safe with me.
Well done.
