I just love the timber selection and the choice of banding.. also looks very well constructed.. allround.. nice job..

Thanks Jayjay.I bought the banding from Woodcraft.If they dont still sell it,there are a number of companys on line that you can order from.

That is just awesome. Did you build that from plans or just off the top of your head? I would love to make a chess board as a gift to my father because we used to always play chess. For his 50th my mom, and I bought him a nice chess set that came with the board, but I would love to make him the board at least. I can then start working on my woodcarving and try to whittle the pieces (a second gift down the road :))

the idea was based on a plan i saw in woodsmith magaine,although i done remember which issue it was.you could search thier site and find it.there are a number of ways to make chess baords ,you van find those on the webb just with a search on google.they do make nice gifts.thanks for looking and have fun building one.
