I finished building this lamp today off plans in Woodsmith #140. It is solid cherry and adjusts from about 5’ to 6’ in height. The finish is Formby’s tung oil. It will have a ways to go to catch up to the color of the chair but I’m hoping they’ll wind up similar in color.
The most challenging part of this lamp was the top and bottom collar on the body of the lamp as they are each two pieces which require some precise dado action prior to being glued together in order to provide a decent fit for the sliding part of the lamp. Now I need to find a shade that matches better but that was all I had at hand. I’m thinking a Frank Lloyd Wright/Tiffany southwestern pattern over a linen or patterned cloth shade.
-- Mistake? No, that's just an unexpected design opportunity....

Nice lamp! And strategically positioned next to the mini bar. Got to see well to mix those drinks!
Great job!
