Had some leftover Cherry boards. Resawed to about 1/2” thickness. The raised panel in the top was mainly sap wood, with a single strip of heartwood down the middle. Handplanes to “raise” the panel. A Stanley #45 made the bead around the middle. Through dovetails for the corners. Stanley #45 to mill grooves for both the top and bottom(1/4” Luann plywood) panels.

Awaiting a brass latch for the front. Brass hinges. need to cobble holders for all the toys going into the box.

Blo then a rattle can of clear gloss Lacquer for the finish

Sizes: front to back 11-3/8", side to side 12-3/8”, height @ 4”.....have no idea how much it weighs.

IF I get the latch and holders done, I’ll post them here. I used an old 1/2” dovetail bit to lay out the dovetails. Then they were hand sawn, and chiseled. First project using Lacquer. Used the rattle can because I am not set up to spray a finish on. Thanks for looking.

Always nice to see what you make with “scraps.” Nice work.

Well,since there is NOW a latch installed…

I can show the front of this little box. Tried to get a better look at the lid, while I was at it…

Camera keeps showing this as more “yellow” than it is….this is as close to what the lid really looks like.
