CNC Trees

I bought a new CNC machine recently. I have been playing around with different bits and different ways to cut, then different ways to finish. Here are a few of my test pieces. A water colored tree with gold paint on the quote. I think it might be better black. Then two trees of life. I drowned the engraving with a dark stain using a syringe, then painted the top with white. Then the second one, it is just ply exposed with white paint. I think Polly might help a little. Any thoughts?

I am very interested as we play with a cnc machine too. You can see some of the stuff at https://chancefour.sharepoint.com

I work with people with special needs who have graduated from high school (ages 18 to 60) and have no job or prospects. You can see it explained better on our website. Anyway, the stuff you’re into now is just exactly where we’re going next.

Thanks.

That is awesome. I love it when people can find a way to be productive. A real sense of pride. Ill get more in depth on your website later, as the phone was not doing it justice. Which machine do you have?

I almost went with the shark. The laser engraver option was very appealing. After research, very limited as small guys like me are few and far between, I went with the Laguna IQ. 2ft x 3ft bed. 3 horse liquid cooled motor. Incredibly heavy and well built. The knock was customer support. I had a problem pretty early on and they were calling me every day until We closed out the ticket. I was pretty impressed. I bought V Carve Pro, and there is a little bit of a learning curve, but so far, I am impressed that I, a pretty straight lined mildly traditional woodworker has been able to turn out projects immediately. I am interested in what you guys come up with. If you have any questions, reach out, because I know how intimidating it can be.

Have your say...
