I wanted to try some hand cut dovetails and rather than start on something delicate, I decided to make a rugged workshop tool caddy.

I also wanted to incorporate some old american oak that I recovered from a bookcase my father made when I was a kid. (A bit of sentimental value. I think I picked up my wood working bug from watching him saw and plane and glue when I was a kid!)

I use it to keep some of my finishing gear – paste waxes, etc.

Well done – I like the dovetails and the sentiment involved in the piece. Almost to pretty to use in the shop, but that is what it was built for.

Jaspr,

This is a beautiful tool box. Craftsmen used to use their tool boxes as a way of advertising their skills. You have done a masterful job with this one. The dovetails make it a “cut” above. Thanks for the story behind it as well. I have often said that the story is just as important as the project.

Thanks for the post.
