Some friends of mine allows me to stay in their home when I go back to my college town. He had built a lofted bed for his son and didn’t have a dedicated ladder for it. Well I knew that I could show my appreciation for their generosity by making a ladder for the bed.
The ladder is made from eastern red cedar. The steps are dadoed into the sides and accented with poplar dowels. The dowels were not necessary, but I thought they would add a nice detail to this otherwise plain ladder.
I added some homemade metal brackets that allow the top of the ladder to be secured to the lofted bed. They loved it and still use it.
Wood: Eastern Red Cedar
Finish 4 coats of minwax polyurethane
Dimensions: 4” by 18” by 68”
