I made this cedar chest for a lady that I met two years ago. I have been finishing projects on her house that her husband did not finish before he passed away. He was a woodworker that had made a few cedar chests for members of his family. I copied his design and finished this chest that he had started for his daughter. I am looking forward to giving it to her.

What a great thing to do for someone. What kind of finish did you use? It looks great.

That’s a selfless thing to do for someone, so hats off to you for finishing it for her. I’m sure she’ll be happy and touched that you completed it.

Nice piece! I bet your garage/shop smells pretty good right now!

Great job and beautiful wood, I am especially impressed with the top. Looking at the end grain it appears to be book matched, nice touch.

Jason, I used three coats of danish oil with four coats of water based semi gloss polyurethane over it.
