I made this pie safe for my daughter. She originally asked for tin inserts but when she saw the case she preferred the glass. Please excuse the picture it is from a cell phone and has some reflection. The whole pie safe is made of walnut finished with a couple washcoats of shellac then semi gloss waterlox. Now I just have to find a way to get it to my daughter in California.

Bob,
What a beautiful piece.
We have my great-grandmother’s pie safe (almost identical to yours) made from oak.
We have it in our kitchen right now but have been contemplating a new home for it elsewhere.
I like the idea of the glass doors. I will have to show it to my wife and see what she thinks.

Outstanding pie safe Bob. This is far more beautiful than the traditional “oak” pie safes. Great work!

Beautiful job. I can smell the fresh baked apple pie with walnuts and cinnamon from here. By the way, I think one reason for the punched tin door fronts was to allow for ventilation.

Great job! It is a beautiful piece of furniture.
I’ve got a question for anybody concerning these “pie safes.” Does anybody ever have so many pies in the house that they need a cabinet of this size to put them all in?

Looks like a wonderful piece! Could you crate the entire thing for shipping? Cost would probably be prohibitive, though. Great work, good luck on getting it there.
