Hat rack requested by my wife. Simple, right? Not so much.
I had an idea in my head but took a long time to fiugure out how to make it come out in the wood. I strugled with what edges to use and how to make it look right with as long as it is, about 60”.
Finally settled on the curve to give it a good flow and an ogee on the shelf with a bullnose on the back board. Took some study to get the curve done and then to get the ogee to join up with the bullnose on the back board. Had to patch the dado I cut from a full dado to a stopped dado….oops.
Two key hole hangers dapped into the back to hang it.
Did a bunch of research on dies to bring out the birds eye but finaly ended up going with minwax natural oil stain and clear gloss over that.
Overall I am fairly happy with it. The wife is happy and a happy wife is a happy life.
