Sons of Anarchy (SOA) Table

A friend of mine asked if I could build him a table. My first reaction was no. I don’t like doing custom work. This is a hobby for me and I don’t want the pressure of meeting anyone’s expectations other than my own. Then he asked if I had ever seen the show Sons of Anarchy. Again my answer was no. Then he showed me the table he wanted. I had no choice but to accept the challenge. One rule, I build it my way and he could not ask on the progress I was making. He would get the table when I finished. I decided to build as a coffee table in the spirit of the design instead of a large conference table like the show (I did make sure he was ok with this change). I selected Mahogany and applied a Medium Brown Dye. I typically never use stains or dye’s as I think it takes away from the beauty of the wood. But I have to admit that the dye I used really made this table pop. What do you know, a new skill learned in the process. Since he is a huge Harley fan I also added the Harley logo to the base. The end result, he was blown away by the table.

It is very well designed, stained and built. I admire the carving in the center; a lot of hard work.
