This is an older project that came out of necessity because I was tired of having cat food bowls everywhere. Also at the time we had a large dog and we had to keep the dog out of the cat food. I sized the lid over the trough by holding a piece of plywood over the largest cat while it ate. The rest was using scraps of pine and plywood with some tongue and groove to keep it together. The pieces that hold the bowls keep them off the floor so it’s easy to sweep up escaped kibbles. The edges are rounded over to make it more esthetic for the kitties. A little white paint and the project was complete. I later had to add a larger lid and support because we acquired a smaller dog and we had to keep him out. You will notice the picture with the cats has the smaller lid.

My daughter was in 4-H where the animal of choice was a cat. It took a few cats to find the one that would bring home the ribbons ( the long hair in the back). She is in college now but guess where the cats are?

Great solution! I had a dog and cat at the same time and faced those same challenges. Your project is much nicer than the ‘cat house/box’ I made. And looks like it can double as a nice bench.
Nice lookin’ kitties too.

With four cats in the house it just made sense. All the cats were rescued from different places when we lived in Seattle. Yes when we moved they all came along in the airplane including a large dog. We love are animals.

Cool solution. I used to put my cat food in the bathroom because my dog won’t go in because he is afraid of the bathtub. A labrador retriever scared of water. I don’t get it but at least he go get wet and come back smelling like wet dog all the time.
