Snack Tray

This tray was the 4th and last piece of the female box elder log I received earlier this year. It was to be a bowl but a deep chain saw cut reduced the thickness a lot so it said it wanted to be a tray if it could not be a bowl!!!

The first shot shows it set up for cheese and crackers with the 6” black Corian insert in the center.
In the second shot, it is set up for chips and salsa/dip with a 5” bowl sunk in the center.

I oriented it with most of the color in the top- the bottom is pretty plain.

It is 13 1/2” x 2” high and finished with Danish Oil and 3 step buffed and waxed.

Cheers, Jim

You’ll be sad to see the finish of the BE Jim, you got some nice pieces out of it.
I like the multi use idea of this one, real neat mate

Beautiful wood Jim. That Box Elder has such a Marble like texture to it. I think I recall you saying you have more of a different part of the Box Elder Left? If so it would be nice to see how it presents in more projects.

The Dip glass in the middle is good too.

Very nice Jim, lovely grain on the top and good to see the many uses especially for chips and dip. Would love to have some of that wood to play with.

Beautiful color and grain in this piece, Jim. I like the options you’ve added with the bowl and corian plate!

Thanks for sharing.

-- Bob, Western Australia, The Sun came up this morning, what a great start to the day. Now it's up to me to make it even better. I've cut this piece of wood 4 times and it's still too damn short.
