Pencil for Pencils

This was a quick weekend project for my wife. She works at a school and is always shorted by students at the end of class with loner pencils so I made this holder with holes for 32 pencils and 12 pens. Now at the end of class she can quickly see if she’s short and then hold the kids upside down by their feet and shake the pencils from their pockets. Works good for loose change too.

It was made from a couple of 2×4’s and a 1/2” piece of poplar in the middle to even out the width. It’s six sided just like a real pencil; angles are 60 degrees. She found some old paint in the shed and mixed some of it together to get the colors she wanted and painted it.

Now we’ll see how long it takes for some kid to try and walk out with this one!

That’s a very clever project. I’m sure the kids love it.
