This is one of 2 identical projects, I built this one in pine and the second one in cherry, it was an early attempt at both the shaker design and hand cut dovetails. I chose to create the pine one first followed by an identical one in Cherry so as not to waste the expensive cherry wood.
I chose to finish this project for the first time using shellac (hand-mixed amber) as you can see from the pictures I could certainly have done a nicer job. I swore off using shellac after this attempt however I have decided after reading the number of people who swear bit to give it another try.
If anyone is interested in my thoughts about using this finish let me know and I add more detail.
