About two years ago, I received a request from my mother for some serving trays , and I regret to say that I’ve just got around to making them. I presented them to her this week on her birthday , and I think she forgave me for the delay. The frames are made from red oak that’s finger jointed , the tray panel is plywood that’s veneered with red oak on the bottom , and the top of the panel is of course parquetry, using four species of wood, red oak, cherry , walnut , and eastern red cedar. Thanks for looking

Very pleasing fit on the nested pieces. Not to tight … not too loose.
Nice joinery and of course very nice parquetry. I also like the handles, nice and organic.
Your mom’s a lucky lady.

When you ask a man to make something for you, believe it will get done.
There is no need to remind him every six months!

Now the trays

Very well done nice joints and features as Paul said the interconnecting nesting perfect and handles height matched to suit

I also could not help but notice the background for framing if the trays, it looks like they are in a very well maintained home.

Both of which you can be justifiable proud of.

I am off the discover something about the tongue twister town of Nacogdoches now!

That’s a great looking set of serving trays! I like how well they fit together, and really like the checkerboard look to the bottoms—I’ll bet your mom is very pleased with them!
