This was a commissioned piece, dimensioned roughly 24”x16”. The wood used was hawaiian koa, salvaged locally from a milling slash pile. Roughing was done with an angle grinder w/flap sanding disk, and detail was done w/ files and chisels. After hand sanding, the finish consisted of danish oil and lacquer.

Cool looking leaf.
Have not had the pleasure of working with Koa yet but from the looks of it I want to even more now!

A Taro leaf. Beautiful work.
I was just on the Big Island last week. Do you have a store or someplace that shows your work? I’m coming back in July.
