The wife commissioned this work for our two children who are both in school now. The desk spans the room, roughly 11-1/2 feet and the top was built out construction grade 2×12’s joined together. There is a pullout in the middle for the larger art projects which sits on 100lb full extension slides. The case work was built with pocket screws and the drawers are plywood with finger joints. The wife was skeptical about using the 2by material for the top (she likes tightly grained wood) but I think it turned out great and is such a warm wonderful color with lots of cool knots and such. Thanks for looking.
