HiFI Unit
.it covered a large french window in a previous house 25 years ago The Hi-Fi unit was a British make called Quad one of the best amplifiers at the time (it currently amplifies my I-Pod in the workshop) The speakers are also British Celestion Ditton 66 which I still use today (I made new cases for them – see my ;hi-fi Project)

Spiral Thing
.I carved this ages ago as an exercise, it’s not as difficult as it looks, more patience than skill required. It’s cherry I’m pleased with the photo though using my new setup

A Box
I made this from scrap wood from the demolition site of an old farmhouse.Sounds like a daft thing to make but it’s really amazing how useful it is as a stool, tool-rest, little stand, step-up etc. All at 3 different heights

Beautiful stuff Gerard. A lot of nice pieces there. If that is a current photo of the bookcase you made with your first saw, I am amazed that the shelves are not sagging a little after so many years.

More great stuff! I also made a shoji lamp with pine veneer. I found I had to clamp the pine in the frame so it could move. I’ll have to start thinking about making a shoji wardrobe with lighting inside!

CHRIS:That was LIME veneer, I think you call it Basswood it’s used a lot for carving.
MIKE: the photo is also 25years old, but I just had a look at the bookcase and the shelves are perfect
